Negative refraction and subwavelength focusing using left-handed composite metamaterials

摘要
We review the recent experimental work done in our group on left-handed metamaterials (LHMs). The metamaterial structure is composed of periodic arrays of split-ring resonators and wire meshes and exhibits a left-handed propagation band at frequencies of negative permittivity and negative permeability. The verification of negative refraction is made by using prism shaped LHM and also by beam-shifting method. We have achieved subwavelength focusing of a point source with a resolution of 0.13 lambda through a flat LHM superlens.
