Understanding the solvation behavior of pyrrolidinium based ionic liquids in acetonitrile through thermophysical properties at 293.15 to 328.15 K

摘要
To understand the solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions between the ionic liquids (ILs) and molecular solvent, in this work, we have measured thermophysical properties of pyrrolidinium based ILs in acetonitrile solutions. Also, the influence of IL cation chain length and temperature were quantified through derived volumetric and acoustic parameters. These derived properties were obtained from the measurement of the density (rho), and speed of sound (u) for binary solutions of two ILs, i.e. 1-ethyl-l-methyl pyrrolidinium iodide and 1-methyl-lpropyl pyrrolidinium iodide with acetonitrile in the concentration range from 0.05 to 0.4 mol . kg(-1) and the temperature range from 293.15 to 328.15 K at atmospheric pressure. Further, the Redlich-Mayer type of equation was fitted to these derived properties, apparent molar volume (V-phi) and apparent molar isentropic compression (K-s,K-phi), in order to evaluate the type and extent of interactions occurring between the studied ILs and acetonitrile.
