摘要
Thomas Hardy excels in his tragic narration in his writing as regard to arts and contents of the novel, thus regarded as an important writer with tragic thoughts. By a deep understanding of the tragic theme and the impressive images in his novels,, one can conclude that Far from the Madding Crowd embodies Hardy's harmonious thought through his vivid description of the nature and the society. Wessex has naturally been an integral part of Hardy's vision of nature and society.
