Coordination of copper (1) and (11) salts to melamine (Mel) produces [CuX(Mel)] [X = Cl (5a), Br (5b), I (5c), NO3 (5d)], [CuX2-(Mel)(2)] center dot S [X = Cl, S = H2O (6a); X = Cl, S = 2 MeOH (6b); X = Br, S = 1/2H(2)O (6c); X = OAc, S = none (6d)], and [Cu(OAC)(2)(Mel)] (7). The chemical identity of the complexes has been confirmed by elemental analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetry, and infrared analysis. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
