Frequency of low back and neck pain among female drivers

摘要
Objective: To determine the frequency of low back and neck pain among female car drivers. Methodology: A standardized Nordic Questionnaire was used. Data were taken from University of Lahore Staff, students and their families. The sample size was calculated using epitool,which was 120, dividing 60 drivers and 60 non-drivers. Females of age 20-60 years were included and those under 20 and above 60 years, males and females with recent trauma were excluded from the study. Results: Out of 120 females, 52 (43.3%) were students, 44 (36.7%) white collar workers and 24 (20%) were housewives. 36 (30.0%) had both neck and back pain, 15 (12.5%) had only back pain, 12 (10.0%) only had neck pain and 57 (47.5%) had neither low back nor neck pain. Conclusion: There was considerable prevalence of back and neck pain among female drivers than the neck or back pain alone.
