Phase formation in the ZrO2-H2SO4-LiF(HF)-H2O system

摘要
Phase formation in solutions containing 1-17 wt % ZrO2 was studied for molar ratios SO3/Zr = 2 and 5, LiF/Zr = 1-9 without HF, and for molar ratios SO3/Zr = 2, F/Zr = 2-6, LiF/Zr = I in the presence of HE The fields of crystalline lithium fluorozirconates Li4ZrF8 and Li2ZrF6(the latter having two polymorphs), zirconium fluoride ZrF4.H2O, and zirconium fluoride sulfates Zr2O2F2SO4.6H(2)O and ZrF2SO4.2.5H(2)O (a metastable polymorph of the latter was obtained in addition to the stable one) were outlined. One of the Li2ZrF6 polymorphs, which was obtained earlier at elevated temperature and pressure, was deposited from solution for the first time. Thermal decomposition of zirconium fluoride sulfate yielded anhydrous fluoride sulfate ZrF2SO4 and oxysulfate ZrOSO4. The compounds were characterized by crystal-optical, X-ray diffraction, thermal, and IR spectroscopic analyses.
