摘要
Recently, XML data has become popular and large as e-business and information industries are thriving. Normally, most XML data is currently managed in relational database management systems (RDBMS) due to its popularity, scalability and stability. XML data can be stored in a CLOB (Character Large Object) approach or a tree representation approach. However, queries to XML data in relational database can incur a lot of join operations, which results in much processing time. A solution to this drawback is to use a native XML database. This paper discusses current state-of-the-art database solution for XML data and shows that native XML databases significantly outperform the relational databases by evaluating mixture of several operations that manage a large XML data.
