摘要
Asphalt binder is a thermoplastic material that acts as an elastic solid during rapid load at low service temperatures. There are two main objectives of study to be evaluated, including improvement of local asphalt concrete mixes using crumb rubber and ways to get rid of the accumulated nondecaying scrap tires. Local asphalt concrete mixes can be improved by adding crumb rubber to the asphalt concrete mixes, and the performance of the produced mix was evaluated. Asphalt concrete mixes were designed using the Superpave mix design procedure to effectively evaluate the efficiency of using crumb rubber in asphalt concrete mixes. The improvement in indirect tensile strength, creep resistance, fatigue life, and stripping resistance were used to judge the effectiveness of modification. The modifications made by adding the crumb rubber to the asphalt cement were effective in improving the performance of the properties of hot asphalt concrete mixes and disposing of certain amounts of scrap tires.
