摘要
The conventional curriculum adopted in technical institutions is not able to develop the requisite competencies in the product of teaching learning process consequently personnel required by the industries have to undergo on job training putting industry to financial losses occurred during training period. The competency-based curriculum if designed and implemented in technical education with active participation from the industry right From the curriculum planning stage, will lead to deliver product which are direct input to the industry. Curriculum planning and designing requires planning of instructional strategies and evaluation scheme. The usual classroom instructional strategics need to be modified and reoriented to achieve required competencies/skills. The paper highlights the need for competency-based curriculum design approach and training methods to develop competencies in the learner.
