Synthesis, Crystal Structure, Luminescence Property and DNA-Binding of a Manganese(II) Complex with p-Hydroxyphenylacetic Acid and 1,10-Phenanthroline

摘要
A complex of [Mn(C8H7O3)(2)(phen)(2)]center dot H2O (C8H8O3=p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, phen=1,10-phenanthroline) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and TG-DTG. Its crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The complex crystallizes in monolinic system with space group C2/c, cell parameters: a=2.485 1(3) nm, b=0.920 85(3) nm, c=1.718 3(3) nm, beta=117.363(10)degrees, cell volume: V=3.492 2(9) nm(3), number of molecules inside the cell: Z=4, relative molecular mass: M-r=735.64. The crystal structure shows that the manganese ion is coordination with two oxygen atoms from two p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid anions and four nitrogen atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline molecules, forming a distorted capped octahedral coordination geometry. Successive octahedra related by c glide of eration share edges to generate a one-dimensional polymeric structure. In addtion, the interaction of complex with DNA was also studied by ethidium bromide (EB) fluorescence spectroscopy. CCDC: 848474.
