Ac conductivity analysis of nanocrystallite MgFe2O4 ferrite

摘要
MgFe2O4 (MFO) ferrite was prepared through sol-gel auto-combustion method. The auto-combusted powder was sintered at temperature 1150 degrees C. in air to study the ac conductivity properties. The formation of cubic spinel phase was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. It represented a soft agglomerated structure composed of ultrafine crystallites. The reciprocal temperature dependence of sigma(dc) followed Arrhenius equation. The activation energy was found to be 0.54 eV. This indicated that the conductivity was due to hopping motion of small polaron. The large mismatch of Z" and M" peaks in spectroscopic plot revealed that the carriers can contribute to conductivity by hopping motions. (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
