Heat transfer in the packing layer under conditions of high-frequency electromagnetic field

Average heat transfer coefficients are measured for the first time under conditions of transformer oil flow past a solitary sphere and packing layer under the effect of an electromagnetic field with the frequency of 400 kHz. A considerable enhancement of heat transfer is observed, namely, by a factor of 3.6 for the case of a solitary sphere at the peak magnetic field strength of 42.42 kA/m and by a factor of 5.07 for the packing layer at the strength of 12.58 kA/m. The similarity equations are derived for the calculation of the relative heat-transfer coefficient for the conditions of flow past a solitary sphere and packing layer under the effect of an electromagnetic field. The exponent in the magnetic Euler number characterizing the effect of the field proved to be 0.26 in both cases under treatment.
