摘要
One challenge in current network research is how to effectively transport IP traffic over ATM networks and provide QoS in such environments. In the paper, we firstly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the conventional data-traffic driven and control-traffic driven approaches proposed by the IETF MPLS group in terms of scalability, resource usage and QoS provision, Then we propose an integrated resource and VC management approach that acts in concert with providing QoS guarantees for Differentiated Services in ATM-based Label Switching networks. Our approach also includes a label mapping mechanism for different service classes in MPLS.
