摘要
Percutaneous balloon compression has been shown to be an effective and simple technqiue for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia for two decades. By monitoring the intraluminal balloon pressure, physiologic response, and radiographic image of the inflated balloon, an initial success rate of more than 90% is possible. By accurately positioning the balloon tip, it is possible to selectively injure the various nerve divisions. This report summarizes the indications, surgical technique and potential morbidity from this outpatient procedure.
