摘要
A new approach (Pulse Discharge Technique, PDT) for measurements and differentiation between different exhaust gas components critical for diesel emission control is presented. Electrodes of a conventional lambda sensor are activated by short high amplitude voltage charging pulses of equal amplitude and opposite polarity and kinetics of self-discharge is measured during the pauses separating the charging pulses. PDT demonstrates high sensitivity (in the ppm range) to NO, NO2 and NH3 and low cross-interference to O-2, CO, CO2, HC and H2O. Differentiation between different gas components is accomplished by parameter analysis of self-discharge kinetics and charge transfer characteristics during the charging pulses. Models explaining gas sensitivity under the conditions of PDT are presented and discussed.
