ASSESSMENT OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-ESTEEM LEVEL AND SOCIAL SKILLS OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

摘要
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between self-esteem level and social skills of the University students. In this research, self-esteem level and social skills of students were analyzed based on variables age, gender and their department in the University. This research was conducted with the students studying at the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Primary School Education and Pre- School Education within the Faculty of Education, Near East University. Participants were consist of 302 students, who are 18 - 26 years old. Self-esteem and social skills of the students were measured with "Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale" and " Social Skills Inventory". Results shows that, there was not relationship between the variables of age and students' department with students' self-esteem. However, It was found that there was a significant difference between the variables of gender and self esteem level of students. Finally, It was reached there was not relationship between self-esteem level and social skills of students.
