Linear network model of gene regulation for the yeast cell cycle

摘要
Gene expression during the cell cycle is regulated by mutual activation and repression among genes involved in the cell cycle. Identifying the gene regulation network will be one of the most important research topics in the post-genomic era. We propose a modified linear network model with periodic regulator terms for the estimation of the gene regulation network of the cell cycle. Microarray gene expression data for yeast are used for the construction of a gene regulation network for 40 genes in the G2/M or G1 phase. It is shown that the periodic regulator terms faithfully represent the phase information, and the weight matrix elements contain several up- and down-regulation terms among genes in the G2/M and G1 phase.
