摘要
Present investigation is aimed at the possibility of computing active control of flow past a cylinder ie., to develop a feedback loop to limit drag. This phase of the work concentrates on control by imposing rotational oscillations upon the cylinder. A code based on SIMPLEC methodology with a k - is an element of model of turbulence is employed to compute unsteady flow past a cylinder. In accordance with experiments it is found that for higher amplitudes of rotation and for certain frequencies there is a pronounced reduction in drag. At the same time drag shoots up to large values near about the natural frequency of vortex shedding.
