摘要
The present research explored the potential of a freshwater algae Pithophora cleveana Wittrock and Mimusops elengi leaves in the removal of lead in batch experiments. The operating parameters like contact time, pH of a solution, biosorbent dosage, particle size of biosorbent, initial concentration, and temperature were determined. A maximum uptake of 22.96 and 14.54 mg/g was reported for Pithophora cleveana Wittrock and Mimusops elengi with a maximum removal efficiency of 94.89% and 85.67%. Langmuir Isotherm model predicted a maximum correlation coefficient of 0.999 and 0.985 for Pithophora cleveana Wittrock and Mimusops eleng biosorbents. The kinetic study concluded that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to best fit with a correlation coefficient always not less than 0.995. The thermodynamic study concluded that the biosorption mechanism was exothermic and spontaneous.
