The cashew cooperatives, when seeking to enter the international market, had to obtain a Fair Trade certification in order to obtain advantages not available in the Brazilian market, among them a fair price for the nuts that would obtain a decent income for the farmers. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the factors that end up influencing the price of cashew nuts and how they behave in the traditional trade and paid by Fair Trade in the minifactories related to the Cashew Cooperatives of the State of Piaui -COCAJUPI received by the producer. For this, information was collected from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics -IBGE, seizing subsidies on the Agricultural Census and using data from the IBGE system of Automatic Recovery -SIDRA in the preparation of tables, the National Supply Company -CONAB and the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Foreign Trade -MDIC with regard to the price of cashew nuts in Piaui and in the foreign market, respectively, and also had documentary support belonging to COCAJUPI. Thus, it obtained that there was a reduction in the harvested area and a low productivity throughout the years analyzed and, this affected the supply of the product, however if we compare the absolute values, it is evident a nut price received by the producer that generates positive income. And so, it was concluded that despite the fact that the cashew nut producers live in an arid area, this activity in principle proved to be profitable to the cooperative members, especially when they export their products through Fair Trade.
