Wind-induced Vibration Hybrid Control of a Long Span Cable-stayed Bridge

摘要
The main bridge of Wuhan Tianxingzhou Bridge with double towers and three inclined cable planes is the longest rail-cum-road cable-stayed bridge in China, whose main span is 504m. The static gust loads, time-domain buffeting forces and the time-domain lateral buffeting response of the Bridge is first calculated in this paper. To control wind-induced vibration of the bridge, two control schemes are designed. The first control scheme is a single control only using fluid dampers. The second control scheme is a hybrid control using fluid dampers and MR dampers. Then, the two control schemes are applied to control the buffeting response of the bridge. The results showed that the two schemes are very effective to control wind-induced vibration of the cable-stayed bridge. The hybrid control effect is obviously better than the single control. It indicates that the hybrid control can effectively mitigate buffeting response of long-span cable-stayed bridge.
