Electrocatalytic oxidation of CO, formaldehyde and methanol on Pt-Mo electrodes: A DEMS study

摘要
The electrocatalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and methanol on the Mo modified Pt electrode was investigated using differential electrochemical mass spectrometry ( DEMS). It has been confirmed that Mo (IV) is catalytically active species only for the oxidation of weakly adsorbed CO, but catalytically inactive for the oxidation of strongly adsorbed CO. At the potentials lower than 0.4 V, the electrocatalytic oxidation of formaldehyde and methanol by Mo species adsorbed on Pt proceeds via weakly adsorbed CO.
