摘要：

The Merkel cell polyomavirus was first described by Feng et al. in 2008 in up to 80% of their Merkel cell carcinoma samples. Polyomaviruses did have demonstrated oncogenic properties in animals, but not so far in human. Many further studies tended to confirm Feng's results. However, the Merkel cell polyomavirus could also be detected in other cutaneous and extracutaneous tissues, and on the other hand, it could not be detected in up to 20% of the Merkel cell carcinomas, which raises the question of its specificity.
