DIFFRACTIVE χ PRODUCTION AT THE TEVATRON AND THE LHC

We give the predictions for the diffractive production cross-sections of chi mesons based on the Bialas-Landshoff formalism in the central rapidity region. We use of the DPEMC Monte Carlo simulation with the appropriate kinematics for small-mass diffractive production. We compare generator-level results with a CDF measurement for exclusive chi production, and study the background including the contribution of inclusive chi production. We show that the results agree with Tevatron data. We also highlight the exclusive chi(c0) production at LHC energies, and we investigate a possible measurement at the Tevatron using the Dempty set forward proton detectors.
