摘要
A review of the experimental and theoretical research on electroplastic deformation of metals is presented herein. We focus on the fundamental physics of electro-mechanical couplings and on the numerous mechanical, electroplasticity, thermal, electric, and magnetic phenomena that occur simultaneously when an electric current is passed through a mechanically loaded conducting metal. Suggestions for future work, recent advances and challenges in the field of electroplasticity supplement this review. A better understanding of the governing mechanisms in electroplastic performance of metals provided from our review forms a substantial background for future work on modeling structure-property relations in multiphysics environments.
