Reactions of [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)(3)] with NaBm(R) (Bm(R) - bis(2-mercapto-1-arylimidazolyl)borates, R - 4-chloro-phenyl; 4-methyl-phenyl; 4-nitro-phenyl) in refluxing THF afforded hydrido ruthenium complexes [RuH(CO)(PPh3)(kappa(3)-H,S,S'-Bm(R))] (1-3). Treatment of 1 in refluxing chloroform gave ruthenium chloride complex [RuCl(CO)(kappa(3)-H,S,S'-Bm(R))(PPh3)] (4). Interactions of 1 with Br-2 or I-2 in THF at room temperature led to isolation of ruthenium bromide complex [RuBr(CO)(kappa(3)-H,S,S'-Bm(R))(PPh3)] (5) and ruthenium iodide complex [RuI(CO)(kappa(3)-H,S,S'-Bm(R))(PPh3)] (6), respectively. Complexes 1-6 were characterized by microanalyses, IR, and (H-1, B-11, C-13, P-31) NMR spectroscopies. The molecular structures of 1, 2, 5, and 6 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. (C) 2012 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
