The Manhattan Project

Legislation now moving through the U.S. Congress could soon designate portions of the secret cities of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Hanford, Washington, as the Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Many readers will recall that the Manhattan Project was Americas plan to achieve an early end to World War II by building an atomic bomb. The National Park Service will preserve and objectively interpret what is commonly regarded as contentious history involving a scientific and engineering effort too difficult for many people to understand. © 1975-2012 IEEE.
