摘要
Log-structured filesystems have suffered from garbage collection overheads when they have lack of free space. To address the problem, previous research suggested threaded logging that reuses invalidated blocks without a cleaning process. However, threaded logging incurs random writes that can degrade the performance of upcoming read operations, since the invalid blocks can be discontiguous. In this paper, we show the performance of the two logging policies and analyze their performance characteristics.
