A Study on Issues of Soil Erosion Control on the Loess Plateau

The Loess Plateau in the Yellow River Basin is an area with serious soil erosion. According to soil erosion survey in 1990, the area with very slight soil erosion (erosion modulus are more than 1,000t/(km(2) -a)) is 454 thousand km(2), the area with more than 1,000t/(km(2).a) erosion modulus is 36.7 thousand kin 2, accounting for 89 percent of the area with more than 1,000t/km(2) in China. In some area the erosion modulus are even more than 30,000 t/(km(2.)a). So it is of the most important for us in soil and water conservation and ecology construction to understand the characteristic of soils erosion on Loess Plateau.
