摘要
Spirituality is a complex subject to discuss with patients and families due to the personal, sometimes private and intimate nature of one's own spirituality. As people face serious illness, advanced practice providers (APP) may feel inept to assist patients who are struggling with spirituality. Providers are unsure of their role in discussing spirituality with their patients. The palliative care team is structured to assist in spiritual concerns. The palliative care interdisciplinary team is made up of a physician, APP, nurse, chaplain, and social worker who focus on the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of one's life. Spirituality relates to the way in which people understand and make meaning of their personhood. © 2020 Elsevier Inc.
