Asian Multimedia Forum (AMF) was established in June 1997 by 19 organizations to promote the collaborative development of multimedia business in the Asia-Pacific region. The Satellite Internet Project started an asymmetrical satellite communications trial in March 1998. This paper describes the project outline, system configuration, examples of multimedia services, and newly developed equipment to accommodate ATM applications. It also reports AMF satellite system performances and evaluation results.
