Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of 4-oxothiazolidines

摘要
Various 4-oxothiazolidines III(a-j), 5-methyl-4-oxothiazolidines IV(a-j) and 5-ethanoic acid -4- oxothiazolidines V(a-j) were prepared by reacting N-[1-aza-2-(substituted phenyl) vinyl] (2-amino-5-nitro phenyl) carboxamides II(a-j) with thioglycollic acid, thiolactic acid and thiomalic acid respectively, and these N-[1-aza-2-(substituted phenyl) vinyl] (2-amino-5-nitro phenyl) carboxamides II(a-j) were synthesised by hydrolysis of W[1-aza-2-(substituted phenyl) vinyl] [2-acetamido-5-nitro phenyl] carboxamides-I(a-j). Reaction between N-amino-(2-amino-5-nitro phenyl) carboxamide and different aldehydes gives N-[1 -aza-2-(substituted phenyl) vinyl] (2-acetamido-5-nitro phenyl) carboxamides-I (a-j). These compounds were characterized on the basis of elemental and spectral analysis. All the newly synthesized compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity.
