Preparation of supported molybdenum carbide catalyst using n-hexane and its hydrodesulfurization activity

摘要
The supported molybdenum carbide catalyst was prepared by using n-hexane as carbon source, and its hydrodesulfurization (HDS) activity was investigated. The catalyst characterization results and thiophene HDS activity indicate that the temperature-programmed carburization of supported molybdenum trioxide can be fulfilled, at least to a great extent, at about 600 degrees C by using n-hexane and hydrogen as carburizing agents. The n-hexane/hydrogen molar ratio of 0.006 is optimum for the carburization at 600 degrees C. The use of n-hexane can lower the temperature required for carburization and improve the dispersion of molybdenum carbide produced.
