摘要：
The article provides an overview of models of self-regulation that can help to understand the psychological background of compliance with health and medical recommendations. The text deals with ego depletion theory and limited willpower energy, self-efficacy or self-determination theory. It introduces new concepts in health psychology such as self-licensing, and self-handicapping. In addition, the article addresses goal disengagement and goal reengagement as adaptive self-regulation of unattainable goals.
