Is it possible to envisage a primary prevention of cow's milk protein allergy (CMA)? This is a question that every pediatrician and/or allergist should think about. Based on the experience of pediatrician-allergist, it appeared of value to carry out a critical review of this crucial question. What is target population (children at atopic risk or children within the general population, given the high frequency of CMA), and what means should be used, according to whether or not the children in question have been breastfed? In the light of the literature the author offers food for thought. (C) 2020 Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
