摘要
Ant host specificity of the phorid parasitoid Pseudacteon formicarum was investigated in field tests with the help of its attraction kairomone, formic acid. Contrary to former suggestions, a high degree of host specificity was found in Central Europe, with the fly larvae restricted to workers of two species of the Lasius subgenus L. s. str., L. niger and L. emarginatus. P.formicarum occurs in Northern Italy (Liguria), where it is exclusively a parasitoid of L. emarginatus. It does not parasitise L. niger brought from Central Europe, thus confirming that it is even more tightly specialised on its host species. Workers of both ant species show a characteristic defensive behavior against fly attacks. Three further L. species, 2 L. s. str. and 1 Cautolasius are Supposed to be potential host species, normally avoiding parasitoid contact in their habitats. L. (Dendrolasius)fuliginosus as well as Formica (Formicinae) and the myrmicine genera Myrmica and Crematogaster are not parasitized by the fly.
