摘要
Introduction: This study evaluated the therapeutic manage-ment among patients with pulmonary embolism and identified of the most common causes and consequences of pulmonary embolism. In addition, it ascertained the factors that significan-tly affect the consequences of pulmonary embolism and health status after treatment.Material and methods: The research was carried out in the internal and rehabilitation departments of the Independent Public Healthcare Centre in Monki in the years 2020-2022. The study was a retrospective study in which 70 medi-cal histories of patients diagnosed with pulmonary embolism were analysed. A proprietary questionnaire was used to collect data, which consisted of 2 parts: record and detailed, consisting of 24 questions about the course of the treatment and care in patients with pulmonary embolism. Results: In the studied group of patients, surgery was perfor-med in 47,7%, and the most common complication of pulmona-ry embolism was lung abscess, at 35,7%. The most likely cause of pulmonary embolism was thrombus, at 67,1%. The feeling of improvement in health significantly depends on the age of the respondents (chi 2 = 7,664; p = 0,022).Conclusions: Pulmonary embolism occurred most frequently after surgery and was more common in elderly patients. More than half of the patients who underwent treatment for pulmona-ry embolism partially recovered their pre-disease state. Younger people recovered faster than older people.
