We report on a young man, who had suffered from weight loss for several months due to dysphagia resulting from severe eosinophilic esophagitis proven both endoscopically and histologically. As desribed in the literature our patient also demonstrated a significant and short-termed improvement of clinical complaints and pathological findings under treatment with topical steroids. Giving an overview of the literature we discuss etiological and clinical features of this disease.
