摘要
At present, there exists no regular training course where the Space Syntax method is combined with Geographic Information System (GIS), except at the European Master of Urbanism (EMU) course caught at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). The aim of the course is to underpin strategic regional design scenarios through spatial and socio economic data analyses provided by GIS. Through the use of the ArcMap (TM) and Depthmap software, it is possible to combine the spatial parameters of a built environment with socio-economic data. The paper will describe the context in which this innovative course takes place, the methods used and how the knowledge has been implemented and adapted by the students in their later works. This is a joint effort between the instructors and students to reflect and evaluate upon this exploratory method.
