Residual stresses in specimens of VT3-1 alloy with titanium-nitride coatings

摘要
The X-ray diffraction analysis of the strained state of the subsurface layers of specimens of VT3-1 titanium alloy with sprayed titanium-nitride coatings, was analyzed. Precise measurement were performed at angles 2° close to 180°. It was observed that the intensities of lines (200) and (222) of titanium nitride noticeably increase with the thickness of the coating. It was also observed that the values of young modulus measured by the method of kinetic indentation for specimens with TiN films of different thickness are almost equal. The results show that the residual compressive stresses are formed in the surface layer of the substrate made of VT3-1 titanium alloy as a result of ion spraying.
