Comparison of impedance cardiography with invasive hemodynamic measurements in patients with heart failure secondary to ischemic or nonischemic cardiomyopathy

In 50 patients with heart failure secondary to ischemic or nonischemic cardiomyopathy, impedance cardiography via BioZ.com was performed simultaneously with right-sided cardiac catheterization. Cardiac output measured with impedance cardiography was significantly correlated with both the thermodilution and Fick cardiac outputs, but the thoracic fluid content assessed by impedance cardiography was not an accurate measure of pulmonary arterial wedge pressure.
