On the role of grain boundary plane orientation in solute segregation

摘要
Large scatters in segregation enthalpies of both the high-coincidence Sigma = 5, 36.9 degrees [100], and the non-coincidence 45 degrees [100] symmetrical and asymmetrical tilt grain boundaries clearly display the important role of grain boundary plane orientation in interfacial properties and confirm existence of special asymmetrical tilt grain boundaries. These interfaces consist of combinations of pairs of crystallographic planes which belong to low levels of Paidar's classification of grain boundary planes and which create special symmetrical tilt grain boundaries.
