摘要
Researchers have developed new nonaqueous emulsions for generating core-shell particles. The nonaqueous emulsions avoid the presence of water, protic solvent, and offer the possibility of carrying out water-sensitive reactions in emulsions. This method allows the fabrication of high molecular weight PU, or polyesters by a one-step synthesis, without using a prepolymer. The method also results in suppressing side reactions that lead to the formation of ureas. It is also observed that catalytic polymerization using metallocenes, results in significant high molecular weight polymers, when performed in nonaqueous emulsions. The method can be considered as a mixture of microemulsion and an emulsion polymerization process, depending on the solubility of monomers and catalysts. The method combines different polymerization procedures and monomers to form core-shell particles, due to its significant ability.
