摘要：
The transformation of multicultural education in its historical context is the main focus of the paper. A historical overview of the reasons for appearing multicultural education is discussed, Multicultural education gradually influenced social and economic life. The need for multicultural specialists, competent in languages and culture of the entire country became apparent and thus the attention is paid not only to foreign multicultural education but the focus is also on its development in Slovakia. Perspectives of multicultural education are discussed at the end of the paper.
