Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) interests among young people has to be raised gradually. Incremental building of SET image for young people means employing several tools. One of them is educational background to be perceived by future students as attractive. This perception was observed in two case studies at secondary schools of technical and non-technical programe. It was the aim of the survey to gather and analyze the data about the perceptions concerning the SET issue. The objects of interest had been the opinions of teachers, students (teenagers). The goal of this paper was to present results of observation and survey of how young people were influenced to select their past, present and future educational background (universities, trainings), which later affects their position at labour market. Recommendations were given for initiatives in order to attract more students, especially females, in favor of technical fields and innovations.
