It is known that some minerals and trace elements, such as K, Ca, Mg, Mn, P, Zn, Fe and Pb are the necessary elements in human body. The lack of these elements can cause various diseases. Because tea contains all kinds of minerals and trace elements, drinking tea is healthy for people. In order to contrast tea of different sort, grade and producing area, the minerals and trace elements in the tea have been determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) technique. The experimental results show that the measuring method is simple, reliable and accurate. Furthermore, it has been seen from the results that the content of the minerals and trace elements in tea is only dependent on the sort of the tea, which indeed does not connect directly with the grade of the tea. The content of the elements dissolved in water is determined by the existing form. of the elements in tea. The study will be valuable in the appraisal of the minerals and trace elements in various tea, and be helpful for people who like drinking tea.
