Time Overrun Causes in construction Projects in Saudi Arabia: Consultants' Perspective

This study is conducted to identify the main factors affecting time overrun in construction projects in Saudi Arabia from consultants' perspective. The importance index of each factor is calculated. 35 factors were identified through literature review. The identified causes are combined into five groups. A field survey included 23 consultants from the northern part of Saudi Arabia was performed. The findings reveal that the top five affecting factors from consultants' perspective are: improper planning, inflationary pressure, fluctuation of material prices, poor labor productivity, and payments delay.
