摘要
A white-amethyst photochromic material, Ba-10(PO4)(6)ClF:Eu2+,Gd3+, was synthesized. This material is sensitive to electromagnetic waves from ultraviolet (UV) to X-ray. The material changes its color from white to amethyst under UV or X-ray irradiation. The photo-colored sample can be bleached by green light irradiation or heat-treatment. Another striking feature of these compounds is their resistance to fatigue. A model that involves the ionization of the 5d electron of Eu2+ to conduction band states and subsequent trapping by a positive lattice defect is proposed for the photochromism in this compound.
