Regional differences in industrial structure's contribution to economic growth: an empirical analysis of Jiangsu Province

The shift-share method is applied to analyze the regional differences in industrial structure's contribution to economic growth between municipalities and the three economic zones of Jiangsu Province in the period from 1996 to 2005. On this basis, the 13 municipalities are categorized into four groups: rapidly-growing, industrial-structure driven, regional-factor driven and lagging. The contribution of industrial structure to economic growth has been analyzed for different regions to provide reference for relevant authorities to readjust the industrial structure, narrow the gap between municipalities and improve the quality of economic growth of Jiangsu Province.
