摘要
In this research, the hot corrosion behavior of the following three types of coatings was investigated; (1) conventional YSZ; (2) YSZ+CeO2 (composite layer of ceria and YSZ) and (3) CeO2/YSZ (over layer of ceria on YSZ). Hot corrosion tests were carried out on the surface of the coatings in molten salt (Na2SO4 + V2O5) at 1050 degrees C for 40 hours. The microstructure, morphology and chemical composition of the surfaces and the cross-sections of the coatings were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to determine the crystalline structure of the coatings and hot corrosion products. Based on microscopic observations (YVO4 crystals formation and YSZ spallation) and the amount of phase transformation (tetragonal to monoclinic ZrO2), CeO2/YSZ provides the best hot corrosion resistance and conventional YSZ provides the least.
